Stuart Lee Jiu Jitsu

Much of the region is small towns and villages, so the team includes smaller groups across the area. Each is led by a black belt coach promoted by Stuart Lee. We exchange techniques, hold regular team trainings, compete together under one banner and bring top athletes to Nuremberg and Schwabach.

Our roots

A BJJ pioneer in the region

How it started

Stuart Lee is one of the BJJ pioneers in Germany. When he started, there was not a single black belt in the country.

His path began with MMA. Back then, Pride and UFC events were dominated by BJJ fighters – so the focus shifted from MMA to BJJ. Today he spends about 99% of his training time on BJJ.

Together with his friend Mano, he ran BJJ Nuremberg – the first BJJ school in Nuremberg and the surrounding area.

Mano

Mano opened Stuart's eyes to MMA. He came from a Kung Fu free-fight style in Bamberg that included ground and pound.

When Rickson Gracie visited Germany, Mano proved himself in an MMA fight and received a blue belt from Rickson – awarded to fighters who had proven their fighting ability.
